There are active communities of embedded Linux developers on many platforms. If you're interested in applications and tools rather than Linux kernel development, take a look at some of the embedded Linux distributions:
uClinux is a port of the Linux kernel to microcontrollers with no MMU (Memory Management Unit). The ARM9 has an MMU, so can run a full Linux kernel. |
